From Inbox to Impact: Turning Emails Into Website Traffic
Welcome to the first edition of my new LinkedIn newsletter, where I’ll be sharing real-world strategies that have helped thousands of businesses increase engagement, grow revenue, and stay ahead of the marketing curve.
If you’ve ever found yourself frustrated with declining ad performance, inconsistent social reach, or just trying to get more people to visit your website. You’re not alone.
But what if I told you the most effective traffic driver isn’t the newest tool or the trendiest platform? It’s email.
And yes, it still works. In fact, for many of our clients at Cactus Sky, email is the #1 source of website traffic, more than social, more than paid media, and more than organic search.
Let’s dig into why.
Email Brings in Traffic That Converts
There’s traffic, and then there’s qualified traffic.
You can spend thousands on ads and rack up clicks, but if those visitors bounce within seconds or never come back, what are you really gaining?
Email allows you to reach people who know you, trust you, or fall within a highly targeted profile. When they click, they’re not just browsing, they’re taking a step in your direction.
For example, one of our clients, Dealer Merchant Services, saw a massive spike in traffic within 48 hours of a targeted email campaign we launched. Even better? That traffic converted into demo requests and sales calls. Email became their #1 inbound channel.
Don’t Just Send Traffic. Send It Somewhere That Makes Sense
One of the biggest mistakes I see businesses make is sending email traffic to a generic homepage instead of a dedicated landing page with a strong call to action and a lead capture form. It’s a missed opportunity to engage, convert, and collect valuable data.
If your email makes an offer, the landing page should pick up that conversation. It should speak to that audience, answer their next question, and give them a clear path forward.
At Cactus Sky, we always build landing pages that mirror the messaging in the email. When the transition is smooth, conversion rates go up, sometimes dramatically. In one recent campaign, we boosted appointment scheduling by over 300% just by aligning the email and landing page content.
Why Email Outperforms Every Time
There are three reasons I’ve been preaching the power of email for over 30 years:
- You own it Unlike social media or search algorithms, your email list is yours. No gatekeepers. No policy changes. No bidding wars. You decide what goes out and when.
- It’s measurable Open rates, click-throughs, time on site, form submissions. You see it all. And that data helps you improve your next send.
- It’s cost-effective Email consistently delivers one of the highest ROIs in marketing. We’ve seen campaigns generate returns of 20x, 30x even higher, when executed with precision.
Publish to Your Own Website (Not Someone Else’s)
This is a big one.
If you’ve got a news release, article, or blog post, publish it on your website first. That way, when you email it out, the traffic comes to you, not a media outlet.
We’ve worked with clients who were featured in major publications but missed the chance to capitalize on the attention because they didn’t host the content on their own site. Always keep control of the click.
What’s Next in This Series?
In upcoming newsletters, I’ll dive deeper into:
- How to improve deliverability and avoid spam filters
- Writing subject lines that actually get opened
- Cleaning and segmenting your list the right way
- Building email automation that drives real results
This isn’t theory. These are the exact strategies we use at Cactus Sky for our clients and ourselves.
Final Thought
If you’re serious about driving more traffic to your website and turning that traffic into revenue, email marketing deserves your attention.
Not just because it’s been around forever, but because when it’s done right. It works better than just about anything else out there.
We’ve spent the past 30 years proving that.
Stay tuned. We’re just getting started.
